Welcome to Saffron Academy Trust.
Saffron Academy Trust (SAT) is a growing and diverse family of schools united by our commitment to providing the best possible learning experiences for children and young people in our community.
Each school within the Trust has its own distinctive and individual character which we celebrate and actively support, but our shared values are what unite us and direct our work. We are committed to nurturing the potential, developing the knowledge and skills, and supporting the talents and aspirations of every learner. Saffron Academy Trust includes both infant and junior schools, a 4-11 primary school, a 4-18 all-through school, 11-16 schools and a large 11-18 school.
The focus of our Trust’s work is school improvement delivered through high-quality teaching and an engaging bespoke curriculum developed within each school. At the heart of what we do is an investment in growing and developing our staff. This enables all children and young people who come through our doors to experience the best possible education. The impact from this commitment can be seen in our schools’ strong outcomes, high levels of staff retention and positive inspection reports.
We are also proud to lead Saffron Teaching School Hub which provides high-quality training for teachers and school leaders across Essex. Our Hub covers the Essex local authority districts of Braintree, Chelmsford, Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford, with over 250 primary, secondary and special schools.
If you are interested in joining us as an individual, a school, or an existing Trust, then please contact me.

Welcome to Saffron Academy Trust’s website.
Saffron Academy Trust is a multi-academy trust based in Saffron Walden, founded by Saffron Walden County High School, Katherine Semar Schools and R A Butler Schools. We have developed a family of schools which now includes Alec Hunter Academy (Braintree), Helena Romanes School (Great Dunmow), Honywood School (Coggeshall), Saffron Walden County High School (Saffron Walden), Beckers Green Primary School (Braintree ), Katherine Semar Junior and Infant Schools (Saffron Walden), and R.A. Butler Junior and Infant schools (Saffron Walden).
We work closely together, sharing good practice and striving for continuous improvement. At the same time, we value the individual character of each of our schools and encourage them to engage fully with the communities that they serve. This is reflected in the wide range of activities that can be found across the trust and the partnerships that we have established in our pursuit of excellence.
